Focused Eye News, Issue #001 -- The Premiere Issue!
May 03, 2022
Greetings

Welcome to the premiere issue of Focused Eye News!

I'm glad to have you as one of my readers! I hope to keep this entertaining and informative.

Focused Eye provides personal growth coaching services. I will grow the company organically, with positive presence and integrity. I write about personal growth topics to catalyze conversations, so we can learn from each other and grow into the best versions of ourselves.

Your feedback would be much appreciated, so I can address your interests in future editions. Please let me know what you like, don't like, or where I could improve.

Quotation of the Month:

"Assume a virtue if you have it not" - William Shakespeare

The Bard of Avon asserts with typical elegance that we can change assumptions about ourselves through directed attention. Although he did not know what we now know about the subconscious and conscious mind, he grasps an essential truth that we try to communicate in personal growth coaching: We have the option to mold our patterns of thinking. Limiting beliefs are not destiny, and we can overcome them if we choose to.

New pages at striderjohnpeterson.com:

emotional-freedom-technique.html : aka "tapping": a simple yet effective technique that combines acupressure and affirmations. hooponopono.html : the Hawaiian shamanic practice of reconciliation and "making right", modified for a Western audience.

What's new at Focused Eye Coaching

My reading list grew again this month. I read books by Luc Bodin ("The Book of Ho'oponopono"), Joe Vitale ("The Art and Science of Results"), Joseph Murphy ("The Power of the Subconscious Mind"), and Robin Wall Kimmerer ("Braiding Sweetgrass").

I completed training on "Persuasion and Influence" with Coach Adam Mortimer through Achieve Today, applying the latest knowledge on how people make decisions. We worked on techniques to help potential clients overcome their fears and skepticism about committing to a path of self-improvement.

I am now better able to articulate value, establish rapport, and gain trust than before the training, and I'm grateful for that! Let's agree together to never stop learning, never stop pushing ourselves to better understand ourselves and our fellow humans!

On a personal note, I was aboard "Butcher" for three days of sailboat racing on San Francisco Bay. The winds are up, and the competition was tight, but we came through with second place in our class out of six boats.

I'm training hard for my next milestone in Aikido, my "Ikkyu" exam, the penultimate rank before "Shodan" (black belt). Penny Sensei and my fellow students are pushing me hard!

I also celebrated my 61st birthday with a weekend getaway at Harbin Hot Springs in Middletown, CA. Two days of healing waters, no electronics, and good company was exactly what I needed to recharge and re-energize!

Thanks for reading! Please share your comments, to help me improve the newsletter!
